An initiative started in 2014, to support the already existing Moyo Boys Brass Band, though soon after separated ways and became and independent project. It can be described as a music school with Maduga Band as its main and most representative element. The project coordinates with different Primary Schools to identify and select the music students. It is actually the long reflection that came along this pioneer project that lead Cooperative Growth – Uganda to take the core values mentioned in the Langeti Integrated Initiative as its own. The three values would adapt to this project in this following way:
As described before, interactions and being part of them defines majorly our nature. Within the music school, specially when the band is practicing or performing, all the participants must come together if the outcome is going to be satisfactory. It is a long process of learning how to listen and be listened to, know when to be loud and when to be soft, working in harmony.
Under Vura Music Project we majorly insist in gender integration. Boys and girls work together from childhood, under the synergetic view. This approach will allow them to learn how to respect each other and themselves, share responsibilities and build things together.
Through our music programme the children will have the opportunity of acquiring a number of music skills unlikely to be gotten anywhere else in the entire West Nile. The Maduga Band, part of the project, also gives the participants the chance to generate some small income.
