An organic agriculture project, designed to provide families with children with disabilities with opportunities to learn agriculture and to start family business after their training.
Ruddu Hwe contributes on the improvement of the food security of the people of Moyo. To do so, it sets a full year training on organic production of fruits and vegetables, relying in local agro-inputs. The NGO identifies children form the Manuela Project who are both physically and intelectually able of working in the farm, and brings in the entire family to be involved in the learning process and the day by day work. The NGO provides the initial investment and asigns a portion of the Ruddu Hwe Demonstration Farm to each one of the families.
If the family remains commited, at the end of the year, in parallel to their training, they will be able of generating an income that will allow our NGO to recover the initial investment and the family to take the organic model to their own land, but now counting on the capital generated through their own work.
The recovery of the funds allows the NGO to continue inviting other families and facilitate the investment. On the other hand, the exiting families become part of a network that produces and marketes together. Whit will eventually lead to the establishment of a cooperative society that will unite all their activities under one single umbrella.
In the long-run, the project will help families to improve their socio-economical situation, as well as learning to prioritize their needs, while they all contribute to the food security of the entire Moyo society.
Like in the othre two branches of Langeti, the three core values adapt to this project:
The entire project is from the Moyo people to the Moyo people, an effort to secure food reserves that can sustain their lives. The role of every farmer would be to contribute to the common efforts
A net of farmers is created, bringing the different communities together and connecting them, most particularly in the families with children with disabilities
The key personnel by the project will be continuously sharing the best of their knowledge with the participants, making sure their efforts yield fruits and improving the economy of the families and Moyo District at large
