Cooperative Growth - Uganda is a local NGO, based in Moyo District, West Nile Region in Uganda. It was founded in 2017 with the aim of giving a holistic response to the challenges and needs of the population in Moyo. Despite the humble beginning, hosted in Multipurpose Training Centre, belonging to the Arua Diocese, thanks to the support by the Spanish partner Solidarios con Arua - Arua Elkartasuna NGO, we are currently located in our own facilites in Bilinyo.
After a long reflexion, made even before the foundation of Cooperative Growth - Uganda, we identified 3 values as the ones that should guide our actions. You can find here more information about it:
When it comes to analyzing the needs of the population in Moyo, one may find many gaps and areas that need action to change their course, yet the capacity to give response to all of them might be just too much for our humble NGO. We chose three different areas that merge in a single project we call Langeti Integrated Initiative. Langeti is the name Ma'di people give to the fireplace, the most important institution among them and also among the rest of the sub saharan peoples. It is the moment for transferring knowledge, telling stories, teaching lessons, resolving conflicts and, of course, sharing food.
These three projects are Vura Music Project for social development through music education, Manuela Project for children with special needs and Ruddu Hwe, an agroforestry initiative to improve food and nutritional security while reducing the carbon footprint of agricultural practices.
